While the sweltering heat continues to be an issue down under, there has been plenty of great tennis played at the Australian Open so far, especially from the Canadian contingent. Milos Raonic and Vasek Pospisil both won their opening-round matches on the men's side while Eugenie Bouchard kicked off her tournament with a win before entering her second-round match.
In the second round, the 19-year-old Bouchard took on France's Virginie Razzano and was in tough, needing seven match points to put her opponent away. Bouchard came through in the end, however, winning the match 6-2, 7-6 (12-10).
For the 30th-seeded Bouchard, her first-career match against the 100th-seeded Razzano started quickly but didn't quite end at the same pace.
In the first set, Bouchard took just 35 minutes to win while she needed 90 minutes to take the second.
With the victory, Bouchard advances to the third round of a grand slam for just the second time in her career with her first coming at last summer's Wimbledon.
