Second seeded Tomas Berdych cruised past Jarkko Neiminen 6-3, 6-2 while top seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga advanced past qualifier Sergiy Stakhovsky of Ukraine, 7-6, 6-4. Joining them in the quarters is defending Champion John Isner who had no problems with Jurgen Melzer, advancing 6-4, 6-3.

It was a rain filled afternoon from Wake Forest causing suspensions of play, but all matches were completed in Singles.

David Goffin advanced in a tight three setter against Kukasz Kubot 6-3, 1-6, 7-6.

Top seeded Tsonga, will face Marcel Granollers of Spain who defeated Ernests Gulbis 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. Granollers is the 25th ranked player in the World.

Isner needed only 71 minutes and two rain delays to advance where he will face Goffin in the quarters.

Earlier, Sam Querrey advanced, he will meet Alexandr Dolgopolov next.

The big news of the day was Steve Darcis upsetting Andy Roddick. Roddick struggled with his ground strokes and appeared to be frustrated with play, smashing his racket after losing the first set. Later, Roddick got into it with Chair Umpire Carlos Bernades over a let call.

Roddick summed up his play after the match, "I served Ok, but I didn’t return too well and I wasn’t hitting the ball clean out there today..If I don’t lose serve, I should do fine, and I didn’t. That just speaks to how far off the rest of my game was today.”

Darcis joins fellow Belgian, Goffin, in the quarterfinals. He will face Tomas Berdych.
