The bottom half of the Coupe Rogers bracket in Montreal, blew up on Thursday as 2nd seed Andy Murray and 5th seed Tomas Berdych fell. It was Ernests Gulbis taking down the Wimbledon Champion in straight sets 6-4, 6-3. Meanwhile, the 71st ranked player in the world, Vasek Pospisil defeated Berdych, 7-5, 2-6, 7-6.

Thursday's results opens up the bracket for the winner of the Juan Martin Del Potro-Milos Raonic match.

Murray never looked comfortable against Gulbis and at times showed frustration on the court. After winning Wimbledon last month, Murray has had some down time and did not look sharp in the Rogers Cup.

Berdych found himself in a battle early against Pospisil but looked to have things turned around with an easy second set. But it was the Canadian taking the third set tiebreaker on his home soil. In the first round Pospisil defeated top American, John Isner. He will move on to face the winner of the Davydenko-Bogomolov match and should have a solid opportunity to make it to the semifinals.

Earlier, Rafael Nadal rolled past 15th seed, Jerzy Janowicz 7-6, 6-4. After stubbing his toe at Wimbledon, Nadal is on a collision course with top seed Novak Djokovic in Montreal if there are no upsets.
