Winston-Salem, N.C. - Sam Querrey fought off 5 match points and endured two tiebreaks to advance past Jarkko Nieminen 4-6, 7-6, 7-6. With the victory, Querrey advanced to the quarterfinals of the Winston-Salem Open.

Querrey struggled with his first serve early and fell in the first set. But the American rode the wave of his big serve later launching 19 aces in the match.

It took two tiebreakers for Querrey who stared directly into 5 match points in the third set tiebreak. He finally finished out that tiebreaker at 12-10.

Querrey will move on to face Ricardas Berankis of Lithuania in the quarterfinals. Berankis made fast work of Roberto Bautista-Agut of Spain, 6-3, 6-3.
