Two heavyweights in the sport of Tennis will clash again today in Montreal. World number one, Novak Djokovic will face World number four, Rafael Nadal.
These two greats have combined for a total of 18 Majors Championships, with Nadal owning 12 of those.
Saturday's match may not be in a Major Tournament but it is in the Coupe Rogers, an ATP Masters 1000 tournament and it is full of anticipation between these two gladiators.
In head to head play, Nadal holds a 20-15 edge. Most recently, the two players met in the 2013 French Open where Nadal won in an epic 5 set match. They also met in April at the Masters Series Monte Carlo ATP event where Djokovic won in two straight sets. Those are the only two meetings of the year and was the first after Nadal's absence due to rehab from injury.
Nadal has won the last 4 out of 5 meetings head to head including 3 out of 4 in 2012. However, it was a different story in 2011 through early 2012 where the Serb won 7 straight matches.
Nadal has done a lot of his damage on Clay while Djokovic is 10-4 all time on hard courts where the match will be played today.
When the dust settles on these two players careers, it is highly likely that they will combine from anywhere between 25 and 30 Major Titles. But there is plenty of tennis left in these two Champions careers. It is wise to enjoy every match between them.
