Top Seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga headlined play under the lights in Winston-Salem on Tuesday. He advanced with a 6-3, 7-6 victory over Thomaz Bellucci.

Tsonga, the 6th ranked player in the World, is considered a dark horse contender at the upcoming U.S. Open. Early, he looked crisp and business like but things tightened up in the 2nd as his play became more inconsistent. Bellucci's play stepped up taking the set to a tiebreaker.

It was all Tsonga in the 2nd set tiebreak winning it 7-3 to advance where he will meet Sergiy Stakhovsky, a qualifier who defeated Pablo Andujar earlier.

In other late action from Winston-Salem, 6th seed Marcel Granollers defeated American Ryan Harrison 6-4, 6-2 in the night's second match from Center Court.

Earlier, it was Ernests Gulbis defeating Kevin Anderson 6-4, 7-6 and veteran David Nalbandian took out Robin Haase in straight sets.

Steve Darcis advanced past Denis Istomin and earlier it was Feliciano Lopez, the 9th seed, ending American Donald Young's run with a straight set victory.

The field has been narrowed to 16 after Tuesday's play. Wednesday will see Andy Roddick and John Isner among others in action.
