It was the battle of two Frenchmen in the Final at Metz. Gilles Simon defeated Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6-4, 6-3 to earn the Championship.

Tsonga entered the tournament looking for his third consecutive Metz title but Simon had a different idea. Simon took advantage of  Tsonga struggling  serve, breaking 4 times in the match.

Simon served brilliantly in the tournament and was broken only once in the match and earned his 11th career title. Simon came into the tournament as the 18h ranked player on the tour and will see his stock continue to rise after the victory. His next stop is Bangkok for the Thailand Open, where he has earned a 4 seed and a first round bye.

Tomas Berdych, Milos Raonic and Richard Gasquet will join Simon as the top 4 seeds, all receiving first round byes.

It was a successful return to tennis for Tsonga, the World's 8th ranked player, who played in his first tournament since retiring in a second round match at Wimbledon due to a knee injury. The Frenchman missed the U.S. Open due to the injury.
